Enjoying the “Journey” of Dating

Enjoying the “Journey” of Dating

The journey of dating can be simultaneously exciting and frustrating. It can feel like a never-ending cycle of first dates, ghosting, and disappointing prospects. However, there is a way to enjoy the journey without feeling like you’re constantly searching for “the one.” Before entering the dating world, it is important to take a step back and reframe what dating means to us and remind ourselves to enjoy the process of getting to know others.

Allow yourself to be present and live in the moment. One of the biggest mistakes people make when dating is to constantly think about the future. Instead of enjoying getting to know the person in front of them, they are worried about if this person will be their future partner. By living in the moment and enjoying the present, you can truly get to know someone without any added pressure. You can learn about their hobbies, their likes and dislikes, and their dreams without the pressure of needing to decide whether they’re “the one.”

When we date, it’s easy to be dismissive of people who don’t immediately catch our attention. However, it is important to remember that people are more than just a first impression and we should not be so quick to cut people off. Give people a chance to open up and show their true selves before deciding whether they’re a good fit for you. By doing that, you never know what kind of connection you might find. Consider joining the She Posse Community or our upcoming free workshop for more tips about how best to embrace the dating journey.

Be open to dating apps, all of them! Dating apps can be daunting, but they offer a unique opportunity to meet people outside of your usual social circles. By being open to all the dating apps, you’re casting a wider net and may be surprised by who you find. Don’t limit yourself to one app or one way of meeting people. The more open-minded you are, the more likely you are to find someone who is truly a good fit for you.

Court! Courting is a tradition that has been passed down for generations and is a way of getting to know someone without the pressure of physical intimacy or a label. By courting, you can truly get to know someone on a deeper level and decide whether they’re someone you want to pursue a relationship with. It’s a more intentional and meaningful way of dating that is often overlooked in today’s casual dating culture.

The journey of dating should not be rushed or taken lightly. It’s important to enjoy the process of getting to know others and not put too much pressure on needing to find “the one.” By being present and living in the moment, not being quick to cut people off, not worrying about dating exclusively, being open to dating apps, and courting, you can embrace the journey of dating and truly discover what you want in a partner.
